Some people see walls as a barrier, but The North Face believes that walls aren’t meant to separate. In their opinion, walls can be used to unite people. We were invited by LVTPR for a bouldering session at Het Lab in Amsterdam to test the new The North Face outdoor collection.
Adventurous training gear
Your next training session can be an adventure, thanks to the new fall-winter collection of The North Face. Based on their well-known mountain collection, they created an outdoor collection which is perfect for your next adventurous training in all circumstances. Their new ‘Walls are meant for climbing’ campaign shows us the feeling of freedom that you can get from climbing. Bouldering is an exciting sport (and a total new experience for us) and it gets even more adventurous while wearing their newest collection.
Bouldering with The North Face
Bouldering, or maybe better known as free climbing, is climbing walls without any protection. However, there’s a big mat behind you, but that’s all…
But, before we start climbing, we have to change our clothes. Iris wears the Reaxion AMP long-sleeve (grey) and the Pulse Legging TNF Black Space Geo print.
The Reaction AMP long-sleeve is designed to keep you warm and dry during your in- and outdoor workouts. The longer back makes sure everything is covered during your sit-ups, squats, and pull-ups. You’ll have the perfect outfit if you combine this long-sleeve with the Pulse legging, which is made of super soft FlashDry material. This material also keeps you warm and dry and your personal belongings will fit perfectly in the small pocket in the waistband. This legging is perfect for trail running or other intensive activities. However, we also found out that this legging is a great match if you go climb some walls!
Thomas is wearing an orange Reactor Short and the Terra Metro Shirt (black).
The Reactor Short is breathable due to the use of FlashDry material. The short has pockets, but unfortunately, you can’t zip them. However, the short is very lightweight, it has a great fit and it’s designed for extreme training sessions. Another must-have is the Terra Metro Shirt. This shirt is made out of stretchy FlashDry XD material and will definitely keep you dry and warm during your training. The sleeves are designed with thumb loop cuffs which will make sure the shirt won’t move during your work out.
Walls are meant for climbing
And here we go: we are ready to test the outfits. After a short introduction including instructions about falling correctly, we are allowed to free climb ourselves. We have a lot of fun and the outfits are more than perfect. We can both move freely due to the stretchy material and we climb up the walls as spiders. We keep trying new routes and we try if the outfits can resist some splits, overhead stretches, and jumping. Conclusion: yes, they can!
However, after a while, we are getting really tired and we need a break. LVTPR gives us both the opportunity to choose a Mizu bottle. Mizu (which is the Japanese word for ‘water’) bottles are made of stainless steel and, of course, you can use them twice (or even a hundred times). They have only one important mission: Mizu wants to decrease the number of disposable bottles to save our oceans, mountains, forests, and cities. A Mizu bottle keeps your drink cold (or warm) for 24h, which is great when you are working out. And, also very important: a Mizu bottle comes in a lot of different shapes and colors, which means there’s always a bottle that’s perfect for you!
We had a great day at Het Lab in Amsterdam. Climbing walls was completely new for us, but we had a blast. The North Face’s outdoor collection has a great fit and you’re able to move freely during your workout. However, we also tested the outfits in the gym during one of our training sessions and we stayed dry and warm, even during our cooling down. We really believe that the new outdoor collection is a must-have for everybody who loves to be active.
And, thanks to the Mizu bottles, we are able to have a warm drink after our workout!W
Special thanks to IJze and Sophie (LVTPR). Thank you so much for having us! We hope to see you soon!
